Experience the Carlson Bio-Logical Dentistry Difference
Most traditional dentistry and medicine have historically focused on materialistic and mechanical approaches. Recently, researchers have looked into the relationship between oral and systemic health, integrating this understanding into various disciplines. Unfortunately, commercial influences and misinterpretations have led dentistry to adopt less healthy alternatives. CBT’s Carlson Bio-Logical Dentistry in the Honolulu delivers a different approach, prioritizing health, longevity, and vitality.
About Our Approach
Carlson Bio-Logical Dentistry challenges the traditional industry approaches by integrating true principles of health and wealth. The focus of our dental practice extends beyond just teeth and gums; we also take into account the neural-muscular-skeletal system of the head and neck in connection with the whole body.
Using constructive and restorative procedures for assessing, treating, repairing, and maintaining teeth and the associated support structures, Carlson Bio-Logical Dentistry embraces innovation and creativity to provide an alternative approach beyond the typical “drill, fill, and bill” mentality toward dental care.

Why Choose Us
We pride ourselves on operating with the utmost integrity by following the Bio-Logical principles and leveraging innovative technologies. Unlike other practices, we don’t rely on profit consultants or dental insurers that limit treatment options. We are not profit-driven but genuinely committed to doing what is right and beneficial for dental patients. Our foundation is built on the values of doing good and prioritizing their well-being.
Our Stance on Different Dental Products and Procedures
CBT advises patients to steer clear of amalgam fillings, root canals, implants, orthodontics, and periodontal surgery as much as possible to avoid unnecessary treatment and injury to their dentin. Instead, we promote better hygiene and preventive therapies to maintain the integrity of the tooth and oral cavity.
The Science Behind Our Reasonings
Extensive histopathological studies conducted at Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu since 1983 have shown that root canals and implants can have long-term consequences and detrimental effects on the oral-systemic link. Our research also indicates that pathology on the root of a dead tooth still exists in at least 93% of cases, even when the patient experiences no indicators of infection.
Possible Risks and Infections
Apical Periodontitis
This chronic bone infection around the tooth root can go unnoticed due to limited diagnostic tools and the subtlety of its infectious process. It may result in endotoxemia or blood poisoning from bacteria in the root canal, which has been recently implicated in heart disease, diabetes, and arthritis. For more details about these new implications, read Scientific American, May 2001; Journal of Periodontology, January 2002; and the Yearbook of Dentistry, 2001.
Pro-Inflammatory Proteins
Though bacterial infection in the blood may go undetected, it can trigger pro-inflammatory responses in the body, leading to various health issues. This cause-and-effect was already well known in the 1900s but has been overlooked until today’s studies. Now, the dentistry industry is re-examining the connection between oral and systemic health, drawing inspiration from the early focal theory of infection on how a rotten apple spoils the entire barrel.
Gangrenous Tooth
Often referred to as a root cadaver, this reservoir of dental corruption can release harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi, and pro-inflammatory proteins that circulate throughout the body. This can lead to various health issues, such as arthritis, diabetes, respiratory ailments, skin conditions, and kidney dysfunction. Unfortunately, dental implants can also become a reservoir of dental corruption.
